So what’s your excuse for not trying today?

You have enough right now to accomplish anything!

You have the power

You are stronger than you think you are. You can do all things you set your mind and heart to accomplish. Your growth is best defined by your ability to keep trying! I tell myself these words as often as I can.

Many years ago I spearheaded the development of a certificate ventilation program. This program was a major part of our brand development strategy for my company based in the Caribbean. We were small, but different in our marketing approach. We wanted to grow and expand our market. The vision was simply to ensure our distributors and their customers were selecting the appropriate product for each application. This would enable our customers to not only refer our products, but to be our cheerleaders! The program was designed around local situations, and focused on advancing best practices which could be adapted to our market. It was simple, intensive, and required the collaboration of teams to be effective.

Our customers were mechanical and electrical engineers and technicians, architects, salespeople, business owners, storekeepers. It was an interesting mix of persons at different parts of the design/sales/delivery chain, but everyone was important to the success of the brand on the market.

One of my awe-inspiring moments, was standing in front of a group with over 240 years experience in HVAC and suddenly feeling speechless and vulnerable. For a moment looking at them all I felt afraid. How could I ‘try’ to work with all these guys who knew so much more than I did? This was a group with strong technical and design skill-sets, and I allowed myself to be intimidated by my perceptions. Suddenly I became vulnerable, and did not feel to move forward.

Its quite funny, because these guys were all eager to hear from me and be a part of this training session. I knew them all, but not all together as a group. I’m sure ‘deer in the headlights’ was my facial expression, because the oldest and most respected guy in the room, raised his hand and asked to speak. He thanked me for having this program and expressed his keen interest to be a part of it. He also advised that everyone in the room appreciated what we were doing as a company for their field locally and regionally. He then said, “we are all here to learn and share information, we need to learn from each other, and we need you to make it happen. We know you will make it happen.”

Yes. The encouragement and belief in my ability was much more than I had in myself at that moment.

I’ve discovered in developing my marketing and business development skills that one should take some risks and chances. You can only apply brakes if you are in motion, and going too fast!

Imagine how many different solutions are discovered when you launch a brand and it falls flat- or , if you launch your product and demand is much greater than you could ever hope to supply immediately! These are cliff hanger times when your brain jumps into overdrive and you have to find a remedy.

My best advice is to always walk bravely into the fire of ‘trying’. Be assured, you can come out with something deeper than simply dreaming. Sometimes the safety of getting ‘it’ all right first, can actually be getting ‘it’ totally wrong.

Action and movement require effort!

We are the limits we impose on ourselves. We are the barriers we set-up to hide behind, with excuses for not trying. We are the reasons for all that we could have done, but did not do.

I’m always moving and trying. Always ready to just do it. Try being ‘anti-excuses’!

Everyone seems to want to chase success, yet not everyone is willing to step out and try.

You can read all the wonderful encouraging words, and recite the most inspiring quotes, but until you take that step to try, and keep trying, your knowledge remains dormant without appreciation value!

If this resonates with you, my heart glows when you click, and I need that to grow faster! Please share your thoughts via comments and I will respond. Thank you for being awesome!
